Centre de formation en plongée professionnelle
Province of Quebec
Company Overview / outline:
The Institut maritime du Quebec is one of the most important maritime training centre in Canada. The Institut maritime train competent manpower in naval architecture, marine engineering, navigation, marine emergency duties, continental and overseas intermodal transport logistics and in commercial diving.
The commercial diving training program duration is 1635 hours in two years. We also train commercial divers in underwater structures inspection, underwater welding with certification according to the american welding society standards, hyperbaric chamber operation techniques, maintenance and reparation of Diving system international helmets and diving mask, underwater photography and video techniques and many other commercial diving techniques. The commercial diving training centre occupies the ground floor and the basement of a two-story building covering a total area of almost 1122 square metres. A main training tank with, at one end, a cylindrical well 20 metres deep and a travelling crane witch we use to manipulate an open diving bell. The centre also houses specialized laboratories, workshops, classroom and offices and three tanks located outside the center. Thoses diving tanks allow our students to dive during the winter in different temperature and visibility conditions. We are also equiped with two infaltable boats to carry out exercises on different bodies of water.
The C.F.P.P. (centre de formatoion en plongée professionnelle ) is also equipped with two hyperbaric chambers enabling students to become familiar with the operation end maintenance of this type of equipment. One of the hyperbaric chamber is fixed and the other is transportable. We use the transportable chamber with our mobile unit to do the dives in the St-Lawrence river at the Rimouski harbour and at the Les Escoumins wharf. We do our deepest diving ( 40 and 50 metres deep) at Les Escoumins during a twety day deep diving operations stage.

The SIVA line combines simplicity and reliability in a pneumatically controlled closed and semi-closed circuit breathing system. SIVA rebreathers have been proven in harsh environments from the equator to the Arctic.
The Closed Circuit Breathing Apparatus (CCBA) 2000 Series uses advanced technology to provide military divers with a user-friendly and efficient breathing system. It is easily adaptable to fulfill a number of military roles by simply removing or adding specialized components.
The VIPER rebreathers combine the best features of the SIVA and CCBA 2000 Series in a low profile, hydrodynamic housing.
A variety of accessories and optional equipment has been developed for use with the Carleton range of military rebreathers.
