New Competency Standard Effective 2002 Means Supervisors May Need Training.

CSAO in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour and Seneca College will be offering a Supervisory Training Program directly related to Sections 13 and 14.
CSA-Z275.4-02
Section 14 – Unrestricted Surface-Supplied Supervisor
The unrestricted surface-supplied supervisor’s skills and knowledge shall include the following:
a) Knowledge of:
i) elements of supervising;
ii) motivation and communication;
iii) legal responsibilities under jurisdictional provincial and federal diving legislation and regulations;
iv) health and safety programs;
v) site emergencies and accident investigation; and
vi) dive accident prevention and management planning; and
b) a minimum three years experience and a minimum of 100 logged dives as an unrestricted surface-supplied diver;
c) while acting as a trainee supervisor and under the observation of a qualified unrestricted surface-supplied supervisor, supervise a minimum of 16 dives; and
d) while acting as a trainee supervisor and under the observation of a qualified unrestricted surface-supplied supervisor, supervise a minimum of 3 sham or mock incidents involving decompression sickness, burst lung syndrome, and lost diver.
