The George L. Hopkins waterfront training centre has a boat storage building equipped with a 16-ton overhead crane, a second building housing classrooms and instructors' offices. In addition, it has 200 meters of wharf frontage and 30 meters of floating wharves, which require extensive repairs.
The purpose of this project is to effect repairs to the support structure of the wharf at the Coast Guard College. Demolition and repairs to the steel "H" piles along with new timber sheathing, fenders and ladders are just part of the yearlong project.
Work is scheduled to begin in March of 2004 and has a completion date of February 2, 2005. The job will employ seven full time divers along with a portion of the work being sub-contracted. Connors Diving Services looks forward to the opportunity and challenge of restoring part of Canada’s premier Coast Guard facilities.
